Featured Dutch Ovens
Dutch Ovens are thick and heavy bottomed cooking pots which come with lids that fit tightly to the vessels. They are generally made up of cast iron and have thick walls which help in making even the toughest recipe. Meat can be browned, roasted and cooked wonderfully in them because the lid along with it helps the pot to cook food by condensation method which eventually makes this pot work like an oven wherein food is cooked encamped with moist heat.
These ovens can be categorized into two different models which are namely Kitchen Ovens/Bean Pots and Camp/Outdoor ovens. The kitchen ovens are used mostly in houses like regular cooking utensils and their shape is generally flat whereas the camp ovens are mostly used during camps, outings and picnics and hence the shape of these ovens varies because they have three tiny legs below which support the vessel. Lids also accompany the camp ovens so that ash generated from burning wood is prevented from entering the food. Accessories like leather gloves and tongs also come with them for more safety. It has been stated earlier that these ovens are great outdoor cooking vessels which can be taken while hunting or camping. The camping ovens can be well kept over coals of fire and also covered with smoldering charcoal to retain heat.
These ovens are greatly used for baking and cooking various recipes like soups, stews, omelet, onion casserole, frosted chocolate, pizza, chicken, donuts and bannock bread. In short anything starting from popcorn to barbecued chicken can be prepared in these amazing ovens. When foods like stews and cobblers are prepared slowly in these ovens then the result is that they are very tasty since traditional iron cast is known for producing super quality food.
Lodge Dutch Ovens are one of the best Dutch Ovens available in the market. They are known for being versatile, of high quality and a great camping tool. They are available in user friendly sizes with or without enamel finish. A lodge Cast iron oven has a hard and glossy finish. They come with chip resistant enamel that can be cleaned very easily. They are also used for marinating and refrigerating food and assure that the enamel will not react with the food. Handles are available for selective models which help in placing the ovens properly.
There is a difference between Dutch Ovens and French ovens as the French ovens are more stylish, elegant and easy to clean compared to the Dutch Ovens. They can be used on stove tops and ovens with ease but they are not preferable for deep frying as the enamel tends to get damaged.
